Fisher Associates, P.E., L.S., L.A., D.P.C., headquartered in Rochester NY, with eight offices throughout NY, PA & TX is seeking a full-timeSenior Electrical Engineer. As a part of the Energy Sector's strategic growth in renewable energy, with Tier 1 clients, Fisher is looking to expand the team with a Senior Electrical Engineer. This position is flexible to work from the surrounding areas in our Rochester, NY office, Houston, TX office, or a fully remote location.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic, self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a passion for design engineering while having the drive to lead and be impactful to achieve results.
We are looking for a self-starter who has managed full renewable power plant designs, from 500kW-200MW, as the project's responsible engineer.
This position will be given wide latitude to execute judgements and to innovate solutions.
This is a mid-level professional position (5+ years' experience) with a tremendous growth opportunity to demonstrate your skills and abilities to their full potential.
The candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:



  • Generate project scope of work and technical specifications based on project proposal requirements and bid documents.


  • Ensure designs meet all contractual, code and permitting requirements.


  • All aspects of commercial-, community-, or utility-scale PV system design projects, through COD (includes commissioning, utility interconnection and construction management efforts), including electrical, structural, civil, as well as the application of renewable industry codes and standards.


  • Work with Fisher's civil engineering team to both flow to and receive requirements from the civil engineering team to meet the scope of the project.


  • A working knowledge of the Renewable and Conventional Power Plants regulatory environment, DC and AC side considerations, specifics about Renewable plant equipment and their applications/uses and the interconnection process, both behind and in front of the meter, as needed.


  • Field engineering including remote or onsite participation of physical plant buildout.


  • Project Management including managing and facilitating all communications on assigned projects with internal and external customers and suppliers.


  • Relationship management and using provided project management tools effectively to ensure the projects track to budget, schedule, and scope.


  • Understanding project requirements and facilitating all deliverables to ensure an outstanding customer experience using Clientship Philosophy.


  • Ability to self-manage duties while helping other project stake-holders to succeed with theirs.


    Requirements


    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.


    • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering design in the medium voltage (MV) and high voltage industry.


    • NABCEP certification and resume of practical design experience strongly desired.


    • Previous experience with Renewable Power Plans or Substation Design, or with a renewable EPC, is a plus.


    • Professional Engineering License a plus,but not required.


    • Excellent communication skills (writing, verbal, and graphic)


    • Ability to read, interpret and understand MV/HV SLDs proficiently is a requirement


    • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook applications, power plant engineering design tools such as PVCase, PVSyst, Digsilent ETAP, etc.


    • Previous experience to perform Steady State /Dynamic /short circuit studies and create/update models, is a plus


    • Working knowledge of the NEC codes and NERC TPL, MOD, FAC, PRC, IRO Reliability Standards


    • Team player ready to be an important contributor to expanding our renewable energy business.
