Job Description:

Title: AR Recovery Specialist

The AR Recovery Specialist communicates with patients, healthcare service providers, and the insurance companies and takes necessary actions based on their feedback or responses. The skills and quality of services delivered by the AR Recovery Specialist is the determining factor in the financial health of a healthcare practice.

As an AR Recovery Specialist, you will be expected to RESOLVE claims and RECOVER payments that the carrier has denied. In order to accomplish this task, you MUST possess a thorough understanding of the Claims Management Lifecycle, including:

  1. AMA CPT Coding and Bundling Rules
  2. Carrier payment policies
  3. Medicare and Medicaid claim processing rules
  4. Interpreting Insurance EOBs, including a full understanding of denial and remark codes and differentiating between payments, deductibles, and coinsurance
  5. Interpreting payment posting information, including how to identify an incorrectly posted payment, to determine next steps to resolve a claim
  6. Secondary Payment posting rules (especially Medicare and Medicaid secondary)

The AR Recovery Specialist MUST focus on strategies to effectively work claims and to meet expected productivity goals using efficient AR methodologies.


Additional Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret physician/operative notes and identify correct CPT/ICD-10/Modifiers
  • Ensure charge information entered is accurate
  • Clearly and regularly communicates matters regarding denial trends with manager
  • Must be able to research and interpret carrier coding policies/edits
  • Stay up to date with CCI/CMS guidelines
  • Stay up to date with all corporate carrier guidelines as it relates to neuromonitoring claims

Deliverables:

  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly productivity goals
  • Individual and Team contribution to monthly recovery goals
  • Other tasks as assigned by executive team

Education and Experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years experience in AR collections experience; neuromonitoring/facility collections preferred.
  • MUST have thorough understanding of Claims Management Lifecycle
  • MUST have Knowledge of anatomy/physiology AND medical terminology
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience coding in conjunction with AR Recovery a plus.
  • Detail oriented and accurate
