The City of Sugar Land is seeking an experienced professional
for the position of Director of Information Technology, Data &
Summary of Duties:
The Director of Information Technology, Data & Security
participates in and contributes to the development of an innovative
future-focused City-wide business strategy based on emerging
business needs and technological opportunities, identifying how
technology and data can be used to refine business processes and
provide cutting-edge services to employees and citizens.
Establishes and executes the strategy, and ensures that it
continues to align with the overall strategic objectives of the
City. Responsible for strategic planning; policies and procedures;
security of systems and data; maintenance of existing systems and
applications; operations; procurement of system hardware and
software; talent acquisition, development and retention; desktop
support; Geographic Information System (GIS); telecommunications
management; and development of new and innovative technological
Formal Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science,
Public Administration, Business Administration, Engineering or
related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
Relatable Work Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively
responsible related experience in information technology, systems,
strategic planning and project management. Requires experience in
managing large and complex budgets in a sophisticated and
collaborative business environment, including five (5) years of
management experience with two (2) years managing supervisors
and/or multiple divisions. Consideration given to an equivalent
combination of education, experience and training that provides the
required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Municipal experience is preferred.
Training (License and/or Certification): Valid Texas Driver's
