Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Must have at least 2 years minimum of ICU experience. - Must be comfortable working with Intermediate Care Unit patients. - Familiarity with ventilators, arterial blood gases, arterial lines, central lines, drains, and wound care. - Proficient in titrating drips. - Experience with medication drips such as nitroglycerin, amiodarone, cardizem, insulin, and dopamine. Description: The position is for a registered nurse specializing in intensive care. The unit consists of 36 beds, with 24 dedicated to ICU and 12 dedicated to IMCU. The unit primarily deals with high-acuity patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in IMCU. On occasion, there may be up to 1:3 for the ICU patients, where one patient has treatment orders. Experience with open heart surgeries, trauma, high-risk post-surgical patients, and respiratory cases is beneficial. The team values collaboration and support. There is a shared charge nurse responsible for rapid responses and assignments. Registered nurses troubleshoot equipment alarms and suction airway devices as needed. RNs are expected to read and interpret their own telemetry readings. The schedule is managed in a way to accommodate requests wherever possible, while still meeting unit needs. Weekend and holiday work may be required based on operational demands. Floating between units may occur as necessary.
