Job Description:
Endoscopy RN position available at USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery
Center Sugar Land, requiring weekday availability with some early
mornings and later evenings.
Responsibilities include planning, executing, and evaluating
nursing care for patients in the Endoscopy nursing role, providing
patient care within state standards of practice and facility
policies.
Key qualifications include a graduate degree in nursing, current
licensure in the state, CPR certification, and a minimum of one
year of experience in Endoscopy and PACU.
SGNA certification is preferred, and the candidate must demonstrate
clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
USPI complies with federal, state, and local laws regarding

Job Description
- Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates
fiscal responsibility.
- Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
for Endoscopy nursing care according to accepted
standards.
- Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge of
Endoscopy procedures and techniques.
- Provides multi-dimensional care for assigned patients,
including pre-operative holding area, Endoscopy suite, and PACU
care.
- Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in
endoscopic procedures.
- Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age
group of the patient population.
- Prepares patients, equipment, and room for Endoscopy
procedures.
- Assists physicians with Endoscopy procedures per the SGNA
guidelines.
- Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for the care of
facility assets.
- Assesses the patient's physiological and psychological
needs.
- Administers conscious sedation to patients that meet criteria
under the direction of the attending physician.
- Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood
borne pathogens.
- Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional
growth and behavior.
- Uses good body mechanics.
- Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of
stress and crisis situations.
- Informs Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
- Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing
policies.
Required Skills
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Currently licensed in the state.
- CPR required; advanced life support certification
required.
- Minimum of one-year experience in Endoscopy; PACU experience
required.
- SGNA certification preferred.
- Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching
capabilities.
- Physically and emotionally capable of performing
responsibilities of position.
