Job title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Sugar Land, TX.

Description:

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Cables Manufacturing Team in Sugar Land, TX. In this role you will perform the lead role in the implementation of manufacturing processes, techniques, and Lean Six Sigma tools. You will be the owner of manufacturing processes or product and enforce implementation by training shop floor personnel, implementing and monitoring metrics, and oversight. In this dynamic role, you will be exposed to complex manufacturing problems and take an active role in troubleshooting quality and production yield related issues within manufacturing. A collaborative and hands-on approach to resolve technical issues are key to excel in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the implementation of key elements of Lean, such as: standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence (routing) optimization, training development matrix, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM (total preventive maintenance), cell design, and quick changeover/batch-size optimization.
  • Drive process optimization using Six Sigma tools such as Design of Experiments.
  • Address daily shop floor issues to ensure production is on track as planned.
  • Creates, implements, and monitors key performance indicators and metrics on manufacturing process capability and product quality.
  • Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process yield (e.g. First Pass Yield, Rolled Throughput Yield), cycle time reduction and productivity by methodologically identifying improvement opportunities and drive changes.
  • Implement engineering specifications into processes and provides shop feedback to capture lessons learned for existing and future designs.
  • Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs (e.g. through the use of Engineering Change Requests - ECRs).
  • Review and sign-off on Engineering Change Orders that impact Inventory - including product life cycle issues, obsolescence, etc.
  • Work closely with cross-functional team to communicate material non-conformance during production
  • Responsible to assist with investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experiences:
    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineer, or Material Science preferred
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong knowledge in material science and polymers
    • Experience with Lean methodologies, root cause analysis and standard work instructions
    • MRP, SAP experience is preferred
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Hands-on and collaborative approach to resolve technical issues
    • Candidates must pass pre-employment screening
    • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship
