The Stationary Engineer 2nd Grade is responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of all fixed building equipment including the Central Utility Plant within the hospital campus under the direction of the Manager, Coordinator and/or the Stationary Engineer 1st grade. This position will also coordinate repairs and inspections with various vendors to maintain the building equipment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities labeled EF capture those duties that are essential functions of the job.
PEOPLE - 20 %
1.Provides guidance and training to other maintenance personnel on proper operations, maintenance and repair of the various operating systems, fixed building and CUP equipment within the hospital under the direction of the Manager, Coordinator and/or Stationary Engineer 1st Grade.
2.Assists other maintenance staff, as needed, to meet the needs of the department. (EF)
SERVICE - 25 %
1.Operates, maintains and repairs hospital building equipment and CUP to ensure that current hospital codes and operational standards are met while maintaining the comfort and safety of patients, visitors and staff. (EF)
2.Provides detailed information to relief operators at shift change, including, but not limited to, planned maintenance activity status, equipment status, and any equipment operating outside normal parameters. (EF)
3.Coordinates repairs and preventive maintenance with various equipment service providers to meet the needs of the hospital. (EF)
QUALITY/SAFETY - 25 %
1.Conducts periodic readings of assigned equipment, entering pertinent information to comply with hospital and code requirements. Appropriately responds to unusual readings, alarms and activities of the equipment and informs leadership of actions taken. (EF)
2.Performs preventive maintenance and equipment repairs utilizing hospital procedures, manufacturer equipment manuals, proper tools and techniques. (EF)
FINANCE - 20 %
1.Operates various equipment and building systems to meet operational and code requirements with a focus on minimizing energy consumption.
GROWTH/INNOVATION - 10 %
1.Assists leadership with the selection of new and replacement building systems and equipment to meet the needs of the hospital that is reliable and minimizes energy usage.

oHigh School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
oThree years of related experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
oCurrent City of Houston 2nd grade Stationary Engineers License for entities inside the city of Houston. Campuses outside the city of Houston accept 5 years of practical experience as a Stationary Engineer in lieu of city of Houston license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
oDemonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
oSufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
oAbility to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
oFunctional knowledge of the following building systems:
oMechanical, Electrical and Plumbing operations
