Job Description Job Description About Our College Galveston College is a comprehensive community college located on Galveston Island, just 40 miles south of Houston, Texas. Our College provides the citizens of Galveston Island and the surrounding region with academic, workforce development, continuing education, and community service programs. We serve an ethnically diverse population of approximately 2,400 students each semester in credit programs and nearly 5,000 individuals annually in continuing education programs. Please come be a part of our team! Duties: Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in assigned subjects. Assist students in understanding course material, improving study skills, and preparing for exams. Create and maintain a positive and encouraging learning environment. Develop and utilize effective tutoring strategies tailored to individual student needs. Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the Tutoring Center Coordinator. Attend training sessions and meetings as required. Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to the college’s policies and procedures. Assist in promoting the services of the Tutoring Center to the campus community. Required Qualifications: Strong proficiency in the subject(s) to be tutored, evidenced by a grade of B or higher in those courses. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and varying academic abilities. Strong organizational skills and reliability. Teachability and determination to continue growing in quantity and quality of your skill set.
